Week 4

This week I got to work outside again for the first time since week one. Outside we have animals such as turkeys, crows, opossums, pigs, goats, rabbits, raptors, owls, and a lot of ducks!

Outside is much more relaxing than inside since there are no baby birds screaming to be fed all day. We do not have to medicate animals when we are outside but instead spend the day feeding and cleaning habitats. In the North Carolina heat it is very important that we keep our animals watered and cool. When it is hot, we soak our raptors and owls with the hose. Some of them like Lyla our red tail hawk love it and will move closer, spread their wings and spin in a circle while others like the vultures hate it and hop away at the top of their cage.
